Todd Gallagher was raised in Greensburg, Pennsylvania and a clear influence in the tone and quality of his work can be traced back to the 1983-1988 Pirates squads that he followed so obsessively as a boy. While still in high school this sports fanatic was let loose on an unsuspecting public on the ESPN quiz show Dream League, winning the grand prize twice and humiliating himself and his family for the first time to a national audience with a series of jokes and comments so distasteful the episodes were never aired again.

But like “Quiz Kid” Donnie Smith, fame went to his head and his life quickly spun out of control. After being kicked out of a succession of schools Gallagher took the only logical step for a misguided youth: managing and running a professional sports franchise as the youngest coach and Director of Player Personnel in the history of pro basketball. He then took his show on the road, parlaying his basketball experience into a series of writing assignments in Australia. From there he triumphantly returned/was deported to the United States where he wrote for ESPN and interviewed sports legends like Ice Cube, Oscar De La Hoya’s ex-girlfriend, and Frankie Muniz. Despondent over the low quality of work he was forced to do, he headed to Hollywood where surely only the finest of jobs awaited.

As a television writer and producer he has sold, developed and ran various shows including an MTV special with stars Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn, whose careers were never the same after the collaboration. Todd lives like a beast in a nest made of money and garbage in Los Angeles, though spends half the year back home under mom’s care. He claims to be eligible to join Mensa, but all that can be verified is that he can’t do his own laundry.

Todd’s first book, Andy Roddick Beat Me With a Frying Pan is playing to rave reviews and is being called "Plimpton on acid.” He hopes not to have to do a sequel and has begun playing the lottery daily. Bio provided by Breadturk Tillmanz
